Former Honda technical director Geoff Willis, who had been on the sidelines since being let go by the Japanese team early last year, has joined Red Bull Technology in the role of Technical Director, reporting to Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey. Willis begins in the new function next week.

The addition of the 47-year-old engineer should provide a boost to both Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso, as Red Bull Technology provides technical services for both the two outfits. The announcement marks a reunion of Willis and Newey, who worked together at Williams in the 1990s, when Willis was the
chief aerodynamicist working under Newey.

Ex-Renault man Mark Smith, who had been Red Bull's Technical Director since January last year, has been offered another position within the company.
