Ferrari's Felipe Massa led this week's second day of Formula 1 testing activities at the revamped Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, which will once again host the F1 circus next September.
With a best lap of 1:46.698, the Brazilian edged McLaren's Fernando Alonso by 0.3sec, with Renault's Heikki Kovalainen another 0.7sec further back at the end where intermittent rain hampered the action. Toyota's Ralf Schumacher was fourth, while rookie Adrian Sutil posted an impressive fifth for the struggling Spyker outfit.
The day was also marked by Sebastien Bourdais' third test with the Toro Rosso team. The triple Champ Car champion posted the eighth-best time in the 11-car field, completing 53 laps overall to end up three seconds off Massa's pace. Bourdais also caused one of the day's red flags, when his STR2 stopped on the track with mechanical problems.
Bourdais enjoyed two full days of Spa testing versus none for STR regular Speed. (LAT Photo) » More Photos
