Even though Sebastien Vettel rewrote the Formula 1 history books on Sunday's USGP at Indy, becoming the sport's youngest-ever points scorer, BMW motorsport boss Mario Theissen is confident that the team's regular driver, Robert Kubica, will be able to retake his seat alongside Nick Heidfeld in time for the French Grand Prix in two weeks' time. Kubica was sidelined from the Indy race after suffering a spectacular crash in the Canadian Grand Prix, from which he emerged with only a sprained ankle and a minor concussion.
"Robert will have another check-up in Magny-Cours," Theissen revealed. "Without wanting to pre-empt the doctors, I'm expecting it to be positive.
"As soon as we get the all clear from the doctors, Robert will be straight back in the driving seat."
Vettel, only 19 years old, bounced back from a scrappy start to finish eighth in what was his maiden GP start. Teammate Heidfeld retired with mechanical problems.
