Felipe Massa believes that Ferrari's dip in fortunes over the last two races will not be a long-term phenomenon.
Although Monaco and Montreal are very different, Massa says they have a similar track surface, and Bridgestone brought its soft and supersoft tires to both venues. Lack of grip and traction out of slow corners was a problem in both races. Massa says Indy will be the acid test.
"We did a one-two last year here, and had a great car," said the Brazilian. "I expect to have a good car, I expect to have a good race, and try to change the championship.
"If you look at last year, it was much worse then this year. But at the end of the year we had the best car. We didn't win the championship, because I think Michael was not very lucky in the last two races, but it was really possible. In some areas it's difficult to compare one year to the other, but if you look at last year, the best races for McLaren were Monte Carlo and Montreal.

"They didn't in because of other reasons, because Kimi broke the engine in Monte Carlo and they had a problem in the pit stop in Montreal, but it was the best car. You can compare in a way, but it's difficult to have a 100% idea. Hopefully now we can get back to good races and have a good car and be in front of them."
Massa says that various factors could improve the situation at Indy.
"Here it's much different in terms of grip in the asphalt, here it's much different in terms of the weather. Hopefully it will be much different the result as well. That's what we expect. We can still can be competitive, we still can win races, we still can fight for the championship, nothing is finished.
"We have completely different tires here, we have a completely different set-up, and in terms of the aerodynamic side we are similar. If you look in these last two races it looks like we went a little bit backwards, and McLaren and the other cars just came closer.
"I prefer to think that something happened in the last two races, we don't understand why our car was not competitive. I really don't think that in two races everybody improved and we couldn't improve anything. That's why it's for me it's something related to these two races."
