F1: McLaren Under Investigation for Alleged Team Orders

McLaren's decision to ask Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton to hold their 1-2 positions at the Monaco Grand Prix is facing investigations by the FIA for an alleged breach of the International Sporting code, which forbids the manipulation of results through team orders.

"The FIA has launched an investigation into incidents involving the McLaren Mercedes team at the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix in light of a possible breach of the International Sporting Code.

"The relevant evidence is under review and a further announcement will be made in due course."

It remains to be seen whether the entity is indeed considering to punish the
squad for what was, according to team boss Ron Dennis, pure "team strategy" in a circuit of unique challenges where overtaking is nearly impossible, or is simply trying to quell a hysteric British media which has since the end of the race been accusing Dennis of favoring Alonso in the intra-team battle versus Brit rookie Hamilton.
