We're missing Emanuele Pirro this weekend as he recovers from a concussion suffered in Petit Le Mans practice, so in his absence from Laguna Seca, we're taking a top secret look into the Audi R10 TDI American Le Mans prototype with his help.
In an exclusive feature for SPEEDtv.com, Pirro brings us into the cockpit of his all-conquering diesel Audi. The physical demands on a driver to withstand the immense cornering forces while piloting a modern prototype call for a pilot like Pirro to maintain peak conditioning; a sharp focus on his car and environment are critical to succeed.
With Audi placing an emphasis on the ergonomics, safety, and controls to keep their drivers attuned to the job of racing and winning, the requirements of driving at the limit are just about the only concerns of Pirro and his team mates.

Breaking tradition with Audi's normal engineering and technology blackout, Pirro welcomes us inside his car and opens the books on how he works in his 'office.'
From turning on the dash to show the different pages they use, detailing the what myriad of colorful buttons do, to how the paddle-shifter works, Emanuele takes us as close to sitting in his R10 as an outsider can get.
